Soundplant has earned accolades from professionals worldwide. Film sound mixer Terence McCormack Maitland (Oscar-nominated for "A Complete Unknown") said, "On set when possible, we create a realistic soundscape for the cast. In order to do this we used Soundplant, a deceptively capable app which helped a ton". Academy Award-winning sound engineer Ed Novick, who used Soundplant during production of "Inception," praised the software. Users consistently love its rock-solid stability for live event use, its simple one-sound-per-key metaphor, and its ultra-optimized use of the computer keyboard with lowest-possible latency.
By default, Windows and macOS view all connected QWERTY keyboards as a single input device. If you plug in a second USB keyboard hoping for double the triggers, Soundplant will read them as the exact same keys. To fix this and map multiple physical keyboards independently, you must use a third-party keyboard remapper (like HIDMacros on Windows or Karabiner-Elements on Mac) to translate the second keyboard's inputs into unique MIDI notes or function keys that Soundplant can read.
